CITY OF BURLINGTON PET ADOPTION CENTER phone: 336-578-0343 website: www.burlingtonnc.gov/index.asp?NID=963 In Alamance County, approximately 8000 dogs and cats are euthanized every year. Until unchecked reproduction is controlled through spay/neutering, this problem will never go away and will, in fact, only get worse. To adopt a pet from the local shelter, you can go by their facility or check out the animals in need of a home at www.petfinders.com or and enter the zip code 27215 for a list of Alamance County animals needing a "fur-ever" home. Current adoption rates are $80 for dogs and $60 for cats. However, this is NOT A CHARGE for the pet as some people assume. Fees include spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test (dogs 6 months and older), initial deworming, 1-year rabies vaccine, Bordetella and DHLPP vaccinations for dogs, and FVRCP vaccination for cats. This is an amazing savings over what these same services normally cost. HUMANE
